Highlights

There are so many highlights to mention in Vietnam, it is tough to choose. Here are the top 4 with varied activities to give a taste of what is possible!

Hoi-An

This charming and delightful port town in Central Vietnam has a very magical and tranquil feel to it. Full of Japanese merchant houses, Chinese temples and cute little tea houses against a riverside setting, Hoi-An is a place to chill and relax. Many travellers come here for the tailors specifically: dream it and they will make it.

Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park

With 400 million old karst mountains, this national park is an adventurer’s paradise. The cave systems are numerous, mesmerising and spectacular. Tourism is booming here, so catch it whilst it is still intact. Forest trekking and rural mountain biking are possible but the caves are by far, the area’s most magical and special highlight.

Halong Bay

Quite possibly Vietnam’s number one attraction, Halong Bay invites travellers out into a boat to explore its tiny islets and hidden grottoes amongst towering limestone karsts. There are many cruise options to choose from. To go even more off-the-beaten-path, skip Halong Bay altogether and visit neighbouring Cat Ba Island. It is less-visited but just as good!

Ho Chi Minh City

Step right into the thick of Vietnam’s modernisation with its towering skyscrapers, rooftop bars and chaos below. This is the place to practice walking across the street and getting to the other end in one piece. The street food and fresh beer is brilliant here. Make time to visit the War Remnants Museum to gain more understanding into the Vietnam War. Also enjoy wandering through the alleyways and getting your shopping fix at one of the many malls!
