When to go
The high season in Siem Reap runs from November to February. This time of year has dry and pleasant weather, and enjoys a hot-but-not-stifling daily temperature of around 30°C. During the high season, guesthouses tend to hike up their prices a little, and tourist attractions including the temples can be a bit overcrowded.
The high season starts to wind down in March-April, when the temperature can rise to an overwhelmingly humid 40°C. The heat can make travelling uncomfortable. If visiting Cambodia during the hot season, definitely be sure to book air-conditioned transport and accommodation as far as possible.
In around May, the monsoon season starts, bringing daily torrential rain that can cause flooding. The rainy season actually has the advantage of cooler temperatures, lower prices and less crowding, and it’s a good time of year to visit Tonle Sap lake and the floating villages as the water level is higher.
