Hostels

Hostels, from five-star mega hotels to local inns and accommodations, are all over the place. They are most prominent in major tourist areas and near domestic airports. Accommodation is reasonable and fair. For around 20 to 50 USD, you can have a room with its own WiFi, pool, bar and lounge. Staff are always friendly and hospitable.

Most of the hostels offer free breakfast and coffee to their customers. Booking ahead is advised if you want less hassle in the smaller destinations. It is becoming harder to turn up and find somewhere decent in the increasingly popular areas of Palawan and Boracay for example.
