Highlights

Cusco is the ancient capital of the Inca. It is the gateway to the Sacred Valley and to other Inca sites such as Machu Picchu. Cusco is so high up in the Mountains be careful of altitude sickness and give yourself a day or two to adjust - headaches and short of breath are the main symptoms. A lovely city with many markets where you can stock up on traditional gifts and souvenirs.

Machu Picchu - The 4 days Inka Jungle Trek (booked 2 days before leaving in Cuzco). It involved mountain biking and trekking and visits to local venues. On the last day we got up a 4:30am to be part of the first to walk up the (many) steps to Machu Picchu. The views from the top did not disappoint! Stay for the whole day to have time to explore and relax in your own time, and for the good hikers out there; Machu Picchu Mountain or Huayna Picchu is also worth the extra effort for wonderful views of Machu Picchu from above!
