Marseille

Overview

One of the most beautiful and diverse cities in France.
There is so much variety and something for everyone, from the calm of 'Les Calanques' (limestone cliff tops that run between Marseille and Cassis with beautiful landscapes and picturesque turquoise sea), to the hustle and bustle of city life and the famous fish market at the vieux port.
You can eat at 5 * restaurants and try the classic French cuisine but are also able to find cheap snacks and grab a crêpe on the go. One side of the vieux port (the old port) is lined with pubs and bars and the other is home to plenty of restaurants and of course, the architectural beauty of The Mucem which is a must for anyone who loves museums. (One Sunday of the month you are granted free entry so check out the details online before you head there!)
The 'Notre Dame De La Garde' is also a must whoever you are. The beauty of the church standing high overlooking the sea and a full view 360 degree view of Marseille is incredible and not to be missed.
The locals are friendly and willing to help when asked and there are plenty of hotels and hostels at all ranges of prices.
The beaches are also fantastic and the sea is not only crystal clear but also warm throughout the summer so don't forget your snorkeling kit!
Check out the locals spot 'Vallon Des Auffes' which is one of Marseille's best kept secrets and is such a beautiful mix of new and old and the houses on the harbour with their mix of bright colors gives it a beautiful contrast!
Marseille is a must if you ever find yourself visiting or travelling France!
