Money

The official currency of Canada is the Canadian Dollar (CAD). CAD is easily accessible from most foreign exchange bureaus and airports. Debit and credit cards are widely accepted at establishments throughout the country. For times when you need cash, ATMs are easy to find in major cities throughout Canada. It’s best to carry cash for tipping purposes.

At major tourist attractions, US dollars may be accepted but it is at the discretion of the retailer.

At the time of writing, 1 GBP = 1.63 CAD and 1 USD = 1.25 CAD.

Random fact: Canadian dollars are made out of plastic! They replaced their paper notes in 2011. All of their notes are brightly coloured.
