Get around

Travellers tips for getting around Bangkok.  What’s the public transport like in Bangkok, what to expect from taxis and other modes of transport.

Getting around Bangkok is relatively easy as there are good public transport options such as the BTS Skytrain, Tuk Tuks and taxis (both road and water taxis).

The BTS Skytrain is an efficient and convenient way to navigate around the inner city of Bangkok, at a cost low enough to relax and enjoy the ride.  There are two lines which transport people to the main Bangkok attractions, bars and restaurants in the city.

The Skytrain covers most of the inner city district but of course does not go "everywhere". Given this you will probably need to hop on a tuk tuk, local taxi or motorcycle taxi (which can be found on many street corners)

An even easier way to experience Bangkok life is to hop on the Chao Phrya Express boats that run along the river in both directions. From 3 THB you can get to another destination and with service running every 5-20 minutes this is a fun way to get around the city!
