Phuket is an island connected to the mainland of Thailand via the Sarasin bridge. For many, Phuket is fast becoming a main holiday destination for Thailand, with many tourist attractions and adventure packages to choose from. There are many different areas to stay within Phuket, with the main area being Patong Beach. Recommended attractions include the Elephant Jungle Sanctuary, where you get to feed and swim with elephants; sea canoe tours to Phang Nga Bay, where you get to visit amazing water caves and lagoons; speed boat tours to Phi Phi islands, with snorkelling and the site of the movie "The Beach"; and Simon's Cabaret, a fun night of songs and dance by someof Thailand's famous lady boys. Please be aware of tourist traps such as FantaSea and Tiger Kindom that exploit animals and have horrible animal abuse records.
